My husbands old battered calculator watch

My husband's old battered calculator watch

Today’s challenge is calculator. I think I was the first to post to the Challenge Group as I immediately grabbed my husband’s watch and took a photo. It’s old, well used and loved by him for the geek factor – he had wanted one for years!

Taxi in Motion

I was looking up the daily challenge on my mobile phone. Having received the day’s keywords – motion blur – I looked out the window of my car while waiting for my husband and snapped this.

Total fluke but it was the best of any other motion shots I took that day.

See more from other photographers for Day 292.

Indigo at the bike shop

Indigo at the bike shop

While picking out a new bike for my daughter, I grabbed a few snaps – it was a good marriage of opportunity and today’s word.

2009 Photo Challenge - Day 90: Shopping [The Tags Still On]I went shopping on the day before this challenge. It seems to be a recurring theme where I have the perfect situation for a word the day BEFORE the word is assigned from photochallenge.org. Massive bummer!!

At any rate, I love buying pretty things… ;)

2009 Challenge - Day 72: PencilI was a little stumped for creativity on this one, so I borrowed an idea from the original Photo Challenge post for this day.

I was also fiddling with the aperture priority to see where I could get the lens to focus. I have a superzoom camera, so it doesn’t have manual focus, but I’ve learned a few tricks on how to get it to focus where I want, and this was a good practice exercise for this.

Dear Husband (DH) and I disagree on which one should be submitted to the Photochallenge.org Flickr Group, so I put his selection in. The version that I preferred is below.
Pencil #2

2009 Photo Challenge - Day 54: StoneThis photo came a couple of days late, as I struggled to find something that was stone, and that turned into a decent image. I decided to contrast semi-precious with non-precious stone, using objects from around my house (you can tell I don’t own expensive jewellery).

One of the hardest things about taking this photo was that I missed the manual focus of my film SLR – the autofocus of my super-zoom really struggled to focus on the stone in the ring. Grrrr!

2009 Photo Challenge - Day 43: TeaMy Sri Lankan teapot – This teapot is a pot and has a cup which nestles underneath it, so that it warms the cup as you wait for the tea to brew.

This is my first successful attempt of framing a shot with another object.

I decided to crop the teacup as the handles did not align well if I framed the entire teacup in the handle of the teapot.

I think that since I’ve started this challenge my use of DOF has improved, which also enabled me to frame this shot better.

Still a lot of improve on – I could have used a better background, however this was all I had in the time available. I’m also not sure if it would have looked better without the shadow of the teacup handle underneath it.

More information on Day 43 of the 2009 Photo Challenge is available here.

2009 Photo Challenge - Day 35: YellowA lot of yellow to take photos of, but not a lot of photos worth submitting.

These were in the corridor down from my office – all in a row. It’s late so the light is terrible. I tried to expose it for longer and use a timer so that I wouldn’t get too much shake, but it still turned out a little fuzzy – although I do like all the chairs in a row.

I think I reached the limit of my super-zoom. Although I doubt I will get a SLR any time soon – super zooms are just too convenient, lightweight, and I’m still a hobbyist who’s just learning.

Time to go home – it’s almost midnight.
