Archive for January, 2008

I’ve been out with a cold and then had a fall and slipped a disc… so all in all not a great week. I probably shouldn’t be spending too much time on my PC… I’m supposed to be resting.

At any rate, I have been doing a bit of surfing (naughty me), and thought I’d post some favourites from my Flickr.

1. threesixtyfive | day 143, 2. Shelob’s not home right now, please call back later, 3. Untitled, 4. Footbridge, Pyrmont, 5. Almost Cliche

Hope you like them!

Toa Payoh with Storm Clouds

I pointed this contrast of busy, colourful street and grey, stormy sky out to my sister-in-law and she said snap it! So I did. I hope you like the contrast as well.

This has been one buy week.

I have been doing my homework, just haven’t had an opportunity to post.

Also, I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to take photos for a Golfing event. That in itself provided a number of different lessons in terms of practicality and photo composition which I will be posting soon (once I catch up from last week).

In the meantime, enjoy this shot, and this series, taken with my finger held down while I was driving through the backwash of a monsoon…
Monsoon Driving

As you can see here, the weather hasn’t exactly been friendly towards taking photos - it’s been raining a lot and raining hard!

Have a great week, and I hope to post more during this week than I have had the chance lately.

Basement Ceiling

This was taken in the basement of a golf club. It didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted - I was trying to capture all the diagonal lines that were criss-crossing across the roof.

Raining

I’m not terribly good at photographing rain, however I couldn’t resist the colours that seemed to almost be highlighted by the deluge that was falling this day.

January Challenge: Empty Settings at Night

Some empty settings from a midnight shot at a closed coffee shop in Singapore. I changed the angle and slightly overexposed the shot.

I revisited the same site that I took photos last night, as I wanted to retake one, and there were a couple of possibilities that I didn’t have time for as well.
January Challenge - Light on the Path

I like the way the light fell on the path.

Fisheye

This was an experiment shot with a fisheye lens and I really think that the photographer got it right - very cool and very well done.

January Challenge: Bird Next to the Drain

Practicing Depth of Field (notice the focus on the bird) and keeping lines straight (the drain is vertically positioned).

I’m always amazed at how many small scraps of paper and such are on the ground.
