Etiquette is just a guide to behaviour, and it is amazing how many people do lose sight of this when online. Bottom line is to treat people as if you were face-to-face with them, and then remember that communication is more difficult online, so more easily misunderstood.
I was really pleased to see that a great post has been put together on etiquette for Flickr, and I must congratulate Brian for this post on Basic Guidelines that culminates in the following summary:
- Be respectful toward other Flickr users.
- Family, Friends, and Contacts are optional.
- It’s not rude to not add somebody as a mutual contact.
- Favorites are optional.
- It’s not rude to not reciprocate adding faves.
- Comments are optional.
- It’s not rude to not comment back on your photos.
- Groups are optional.
- It’s not rude to not join a group you’re invited to.
- Testimonials are optional.
- It’s not rude to not reciprocate a testimonial.
- Respect the license attached to a photo.
As usual, really top job on this Brian, and now I’m going to flag a whole bunch of favourites!

I saw this and knew it had to be in here - as much for the content as for the photo.

Click through to the Flickr page on the above image to read how the photographer has done this with an infrared lens and some Photoshopping - really great!

Great use of the reflective surface… I love that the barren trees are also reflected in the hood (bonnet) of the car.

Really nice composition - from fresh green to fallen reds and browns.

The colours in this are great - and it’s such a typical, yet exotic image of Singapore!

More photo blogs that are just pure inspiration. My top three this week.
- Photorama
Photos that are intimate (up close without the naked) as well as interesting. Click on the photo itself to view the next one. The portraits are fantastic!
- Daily Dose of Imagery
These are great photos that are vivid and striking. I think there has been processing, but the images are all the more extraordinary for it. Just awesome to behold. (The photo included in this post is from this site)

Really great colour and texture in these photos. I haven’t linked to the home page on this one, but chosen one the photos that caught my eye. You’ll be in for a surprise!
Hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
